Jane Mattson, PhD, OTR, CRC, CDMS, CLCP, CCM began her case management practice in 1981 after completing her doctorate in occupational therapy at the Heller School of Brandeis University. Jane Mattson Associates Inc. was incorporated in 1983 and emerged as an internationally respected practice for development of life care plans and vocational evaluations for individuals challenged by spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy and other major health issues. Jennifer Canter MD, MPH, FAAP, CLCP is an actively practicing pediatrician specializing in traumatic injuries and is full Professor of Pediatrics and Professor of Disability and Health at New York Medical College. With her interest in long term outcomes for her patients, Dr. Canter became a certified life care planner in 2016, at first working with and eventually partnering with Dr. Mattson to form Mattson and Canter Life Care Consultants. Both Dr. Canter and Dr. Mattson have a wide variety of consultation and testimony experience.  In 2020, additional certified life care planners and vocational rehabilitation experts joined the team.

Methodology

Life Care Plans developed by Mattson and Canter adhere to the Standards of Practice for Life Care Planners, Third Edition, developed by IARP, the International Academy of Life Care Planners, published in 2015. We seek to comport with the definition adopted in 1998: "The life care plan is a dynamic document based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis, and research, which provides an organized, concise plan for current and future needs with associated costs for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic health care needs." Our life care plans are unique to each and every individual and consider life expectancy, social factors, pre-existing conditions and medical history after the event prompting litigation.
